Impressive 500M Shot Group using SSA .308WIN 168gr Sierra OTMs
Shot by Fred and Jereme Chapman at 100 and 500 meters with an out-of-the-box Remington 700 SPS rifle. The scope was a Leupold VX3 with M1 Turants. The ammo was SSA 7.62mm 168gr and 175 gr OTM match. The ammo made our day. Fred Chapman

Early Morning Buck using SSA 110gr Nosler Accubond Tactical Load
Thank you SSA for making the best 6.8spc ammo in the world. i have been shooting SSA for over two years now. I got this buck early Saturday morning Nov 21. He was 173 yards out one shot through the lungs, he ran about 20 yards and fell right over. 110gr Accubond Tactical load was used in my Stag 16' 1x10 twist. This was my first time shooting Accubond. Kentucky Doe dropped by a Vegas Hunter
I dropped this fine Kentucky doe at 154 yards. Doe dropped in her tracks with Silver State Armory's Sierra Pro hunter 110 grain out of Stag Arms 6.8 SPC. One shot and dropped in her tracks. Doe was killed on November 15, 2009. I was very impressed because it was a very clean kill. Awesome and impressive round ! I suggest any one who hunts with 6.8 SPC and recommend use Silver State Armory's Sierra Pro Hunter 110 grain. Thanks SSA. Larry Williams
2 Shots, 2 Hogs using 6.8SPC 110gr Barnes TSX
SSA Barnes 110gr TSX -- 2 shots, 2 hogs dropped in their tracks at 130 yds. (165# and 120#)! As previously reported, that TSX is devastating on hogs and I wasn't even shooting combat loads. Very satisfied! 16" RRA 6.8 SPC, SPEC II, 1 in 10 twist (in other words, nothing special).
Thanks again for steering me towards SSA products. Brian B.

Impressive Buck
This buck was taken with a Stag Model 5 6.8 SPC M4 carbine using your SSA 115 gr Sierra OTM @ 65 yards one round. Before using SSA, Rem Premier Match 115 gr Sierra MatchKing Hollow Point was all that was fed thru this carbine. After speaking with someone at your place, I tried your OTM which is the same bullet, side by side with the Remington. Shooting 5 rounds, cleaning the barrel, shooting 5 more rounds. I didn't believe the results so I kept doing it and got the same results each time, tighter groups by the SSA round each time.
My Stag Arms Model 5 has a Burris 1-4 Tactical Extreme with their FastFire reflex, set of Troy flip up backup sights, Simpson quad rail, and SureFire vertical grip, making a fantastic Northeast deer gun where shots are usually under 100 yards.
Thanks again for steering me towards SSA products. David Quong

Cole's Buck
8-year old Cole Rodriguez dropped this fine South Texas ten pointer at 152 yards with his Stag Arms M7 Hunter in 6.8mm SPC. The big-bodied buck dropped within 10 yards of where it stood when Cole hit it on the shoulder with an SSA 110-grain Accubond.

Father & Son with Texas Deer
I thought I'd send you a picture of the deer my nine year old dropped in his tracks back in December with your SSA 110 grain Pro Hunter load. The deer had 16 scorable points and grossed 173 B&C inches. Not bad for a Texas hill country buck! Kevin Calongne

Thanksgiving Morning Hunt
Noticed this guy about 60 yards behind my stand. Put him down with my freshly built 6.8 using Silver State Armory's Sierra 110gr ProHunter out of a Kotonics 16" barrel. He dropped in his tracks with a neck shot as if someone flipped his lightswitch. During butchering, I noticed that SSA ProHunter had entered his neck from the right at the base of his neck shattering the first rib on his left side near his spine. It then plowed into his shoulder leaving a 2" hole as it exited his chest cavity and entered his left shoulder breaking his left femur at his femur/shoulder blade joint. Thanks SSA, you have a ProHunter fan for life. Longboat

Northern Minnesota Deer
Got this little guy in northern MN. Last summer I was up to my uncle's place where I go 4-wheeling and deer hunting. I found a nice little area with a lot of deer sign. A week before deer hunting, I went back up there and put up my deer stand. 3 days of sitting there paid off. I just happened to look behind me and there he was around 120 yards away with his nose in the rear of a doe. The bullet went through both lungs and the heart. He jumped once, and fell over. Thanks to SSA for their awesome round, SSA 110 grain Sierra Pro Hunter was used. Denny

James' Deer at 125 Yards
Shot at about 125 yards using a WOA 18'' SS barrel sold by Denny over at GTS with SSA 110 grain Sierra Pro Hunter. Been hunting this place for 5 years now and finally got a deer there. Would have been a doe too but I rushed that shot a little and smooth missed. Hit the deer on the right side and it went through and through but clipped the top of the heart and made a mess of the internals. Deer ran about 20 yards and dropped. Inset pic shows the accuracy of the WOA barrel and SSA 110 grain pro hunter round with me shooting it at 100 yards the very first time ever out.
Enjoy and thanks for the ammo! James

Georgia Doe taken with 6.8SPC Pro Hunters
This weekend I was hunting at my club in a county in eastern Georgia on Clark Hill Lake. It was my first trip to the woods with a 6.8 having used AR platform extensively while in the military. Seeing first hand the stopping power of a 5.56 while in the sandbox I had a strong feeling the 6.8 was going to more than match any North American Game I could dance in front of it.
Prior to going on the hunt I went to the range to zero my rifle. I was immediately struck by the dead-on accuracy at the range. Zeroed at 100 meters and every shot was nearly touching. After three groups I was ready to head home to pack for the rest of the trip.
I arrived in my stand about 20 minutes before sunrise. One hour after the sun came up a group of does walked right up to me. I dropped the largest of the group at about 50 meters. I hit her once hard in the right shoulder. She dropped like a sack of bricks. Not one twitch or kick...she went right down. She dropped so calmly the other deer were not even spooked. Matter of fact, the deer closest to the one I dropped rolled on the ground like she was playing with the one I dropped. Needless to say I am very impressed with your 110 Pro Hunter and I have a new favorite hunting round.Mike, Atlanta, GA, US Army Retired

4 Hogs using 6.8SPC Barnes 110gr TSX
My son's and I went on our first Hog hunt last week in central Fla. Believe it or not it was their first time hunting for anything (well, for anything with 4 legs anyway). They are Marines and have been shooting all of their lives so they can handle a rifle but for some reason we just never got around to going hunting. At ranges between 50 - 75 yards we fired 5 rounds total and killed 4 pigs. Three boars and one very piggy sow. Ammo was SSA’s 110 grain TSX Combat loading. The hogs weighed between 130 and 160 lbs. My Boar was taken from a tree stand over corn. I had a quartering away shot from about 50 yards that went in, broke several ribs and exited the hog's throat rendering everything in between unusable. The hog dropped where he was shot, got up and fell again for good about 5 yards away. I started to shoot him a second time but didn't because it was very obvious he wasn’t going to go far. My son BG had basically the same shot on another boar before he even made it to his tree stand. From a ground level kneeling position he took a quartering away shot at about 75 yards. The pig went down and never got up. EG had a just a little more fun, killing two pigs. He shot the first boar to arrive at the feeder thru the shoulder. DRT. A little while later several sows with piglets showed up along with a yearling. When the sows smelled the dead pig they spooked and a mad scramble ensued. EG took a running shot at a big sow when she ran by. His first shot hit her a little far back in the gut. She fell and was getting up to run when he fired a second round that put her down for good.
SSA's Barnes 110 gr TSX Combat is a hot load! Marvin Galloway

3-Point Mule Deer in Northern Wyoming
Athree-point mule deer from northern Wyoming. 26" spread. First day out hunting with the 6.8. My father-in-law and I were working both sides of a valley. Lots of cedars and cover. The buck popped up at about 60 yds from me at my 9 o'clock. I had time to drop down into a solid position and wait for his running to settle into a straight line. Before he could top the ridge, the cross hairs and he lined up right. Shot was about 125 yds running away and up a short hill. One of your SSA 110 grain Barnes TSX combat loads dropped him in his tracks. The bullet entered in the back of the neck and exited the throat taking out the spine. As quick a kill as I have ever seen. My father-in-law was impressed with the results and that is saying something. This is an accurate load for my 6.8 with speed, power and hi-tech bullet design. Thanks for crafting superb ammo.

Pronghorn Hunt with SSA 6.8SPC Pro Hunters
Here is the story of the old man who never shot an AR-15 before: My father's 30-30 went down due to a broken firing pin on opening day of Pronghorn in Wyoming. I brought along my 6.8 SPC to hunt coyotes in the late afternoon hours. My father has never shot an AR-15 before let alone knows anything about the 6.8 SPC. He truly fits the phrase"beware of the man with one gun, he likely knows how to use it."Well, he took my 6.8 SPC rifle built by Cardinal Armory out of North Carolina and the 4x IOR scope, placed the dot on the high portion of the shoulder and shot at the next pronghorn which stepped out of the valley. Bang, the pronghorn took a step and fell over. My father took out his Leica CRF rangefinder and the pronghorn lay at 264 yards lazed. The 110 grain pro hunter load by Silver State Armory performed fantastically. My father is now officially hooked on the 6.8 and as a result I gave him the gun. Silver State Armory has another new fan of their ammo in my father. Thanks for making ammo which performs in the field and on the range. JT and DT Jones

100 Yard 3 Shot Group using SSA 115 grain OTM
While it has been quite a while since I have shot a bolt gun with a scope, I was so pleased with my Remington 700p LTR and your 6.8 115gr OTM that I figured I'd share some photos with you.All of these were shot at range of 100yds.I also shot some of your 110gr. ProHunter, but I forgot to photograph the target (results were very similar though).I know these groups will get even smaller once I get the ole' skills back up to where they should be.Thanks for making a great product! Sgt. Don Mather, SRT Marksman, Georgetown Police Dept
“We conducted tests with five loads from three manufacturers and found the Silver State loads were head and shoulders above the rest. Accuracy was within .78 MOA with the 110 grain Soft point and .89 MOA with the Mil / LE load. The 110 Soft point exhibited good penetration with practically no deflection through vehicle windshields. An additional bonus was that the aiming point for both rounds is nearly identical eliminating the need for adjustments when changing rounds.Silver State ammo has exceeded all our expectations.”
David M. Hall, OHIO Bureau of Criminal Investigation
“The commitment to excellence of the team at Silver State Armory is seen in the quality and reliability of their product. I have fired hundreds of rounds of SSA 6.8mm SPC and have never had a failure to feed or fire due to the ammunition. I encourage any individual or agency to consider Silver State Armory in the selection of their ammunition needs. I believe you will be pleased with the cost and reliability of the ammunition offered by Silver State Armory.”
6.8 and 110 grainers
This was a great "learning experience" I got from the first three rounds out of my new 6.8 rifle.
While I was loading some SSA brass at home over the Thanksgiving holiday, Michelle saw this buck coming across the hill in the South 20 acres of our home. I loaded the charges I had measured and pressed in some 130 grain bullets. I racked one in and took the shot. He started to run and I thought "maybe I missed?" I took the next shot and he kept running. I took the third and he face-planted. Only after coming up to him did I find that I had landed all three shots, two of them right on, one a little further back, but none of them mushroomed. I turns out that the 130 grainers that I loaded won't mushroom unless they are going 2800fps+. Now I use the Sierra Pro Hunter 110gr soft point and it has transformed my 6.8 into a GREAT hunting rifle.Ryan

Kelsey's 7th Deer
Here’s Kelsey’s latest acquisition…The 15 year old and her 7th deer. All with one shot drops. It is an 11 Pt. Whitetail, Edwards County, TX, 18 Yard Shot (no joke), LMT MRP 18” Barrel, JP Trigger, Leupold MR/T 1.5X5, LaRue SPR mount, Silver State 110gr. 6.8 (Barnes Triple Shock). The buck came in at 100 yards and never presented a side shot…he walked straight toward us and got within twenty yards and turned broadside. She dropped him like a bad habit. Rory

1/2" Groups with SSA Ammo
We went hunting on Friday. I had built three 6.8 uppers for my three sons. Three of us came home with nothing, while my youngest (20 years old) got two, one a 100 lb. buck (that 's about average for this area) and the other a small button buck. Both of them went down like a hammer hit them. We were using your Pro Hunters right out of the box. I also managed to shoot my first 1/2" group with your commercial OTM loads, picture attached. Tim

550lb Cow Elk
… I go elk hunting every year in S. CO with some of my buds from the FAL Files & this year I took a 6.8. We hunt for cow elk as the tag prices are cheaper than bulls & you can't eat horns. Given the experience gained from the last 3 hunting seasons, I stalked up to a place where I thought there might be elk & I was rewarded with a clean kill on a 550lb cow elk at 45yds. First shot broke her spine & when she dropped, she raised her neck up & I took the opportunity to place a second insurance shot through the neck to make sure she was dead right there & spare any suffering….
Art at SSA is THE man! Ammo performed perfectly, was one hole accurate @100yds & did the deed on this animal. The aim of every hunter should be a quick, decisive kill with as little suffering as possible. The combination of the SSA ammo & our LWRC piston AR gave me the chance to do just that.

3 Shots – 3 Caribou
On a recent hunt by three 68forums.com members, three caribou were taken with SSA ammo and an AR chambered in 6.8. The longest shot was 158 yards and all three dropped in their tracks. The round used was our 115 grain OTM MIL/LE with enhanced fragmentation. There was a small entrance and exit hole, however, during field dressing they noticed massive internal damage that stopped the caribou bulls in their tracks. A writer was along on the trip and he will be doing an article on the hunt. The writer had no idea a 6.8 could have such stopping power from an AR. They fragmented and caused massive internal damage as designed to do. All the bulls weighed between 300 to 400 pounds. Art-SSA

Love those Match Kings
The yellow target is on the 31 yard indoor range and the brown is 110 yards outdoors. Dave

SSA 110gr Pro-Hunters
It was a standing, offhand shot at 125 yds.. Right quartering facing shot... hit it very low on the sternum,.. Really not a very good shot by me... gutted it and broke the back leg... Deer ran about 350 yards through heavy brush then died. I didn't realize it had been hit until I came up on where I hit it and found a 4 foot heavy spread of acorn cud. I tracked it for about 50 yards, then went over to my buddy's camper that I'm staying at and got him and his 2 Labradors to track.
The bullet far outperformed the shooter. The damage was severe and extensive and would have been an instant kill if I'd hit the deer about 2" higher. I don't think a .308 would have been much more effective if it hit the same spot. Shot placement is so important... as it stands, there was almost no damage to the meat. Image-wise, the shot looked very similar to that raccoon post that is around with half its guts hanging out.
Spent the afternoon shooting my rifle... consistent 3/4 to 1" groups with SSA Pro-Hunter. Sadly I only seem to be getting about 1.5-2" groups with the HSM V-Max, though of a 5 shot group, my buddy did place 3 into an inch then tossed 2 others wildly about 2" around the group. Definitely getting significantly different groups with the HSM V-max and the SSA Pro-Hunter, both in terms of group size and position.
The HSM V-Max always seems to have bent necks when I shoot it, while the SSA ejects cleanly and typically about a foot further. Disco
